![]() ![]() Of the XFE LS and LT models, the LT is the more fully featured car, including power windows and locks, keyless entry, a security system, lumbar support and interior lighting. We couldn’t find many Value Leader models in our listings most were LS or LT models. These models don’t have air conditioning or antilock brakes, even as options. You can find a list of the Cobalt’s standard safety features here.Įntry-level Cobalts start at $14,990 for Value Leader models with the XFE treatment. ![]() Granted, it’s not a very expensive option, but the Corolla and Civic both include the feature standard ABS is a $745 option on the Focus. On the highway, however, wind noise is more prevalent than in the Corolla or Focus, but it’s about equal with the Civic.Īntilock brakes are routinely included as standard equipment on many new cars, but the Cobalt’s ABS is still a $400 option. At slower speeds, the Cobalt isolates outside noises well, and the interior is relatively quiet. That was appreciated when I was stuck in traffic.Įven though the highway ride is uneasy at times, the Cobalt otherwise rides very smoothly for a compact car. The Cobalt’s manual transmission is extremely easy to drive smoothly, with a clutch that doesn’t require much work to use. The 155-horsepower four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission combine to move the Cobalt impressively on highway on-ramps and make passing easy. Just because the Cobalt XFE is fuel efficient doesn’t mean it’s a stick in the mud in terms of acceleration. Going 70 mpg on the highway, the instantaneous gas mileage readout read 37-38 mpg. Considering I was also evaluating the car - which can sometimes be a fuel-consuming process - the average mileage was pretty impressive. I consistently averaged in the low 30-mpg range doing about 40 percent city driving and 60 percent highway. The automatic Civic and Corolla, for example, have 36 and 35 mpg ratings, respectively. With the optional four-speed automatic transmission ($925), the Cobalt loses its XFE designation and is rated 33 mpg on the highway, far from the XFE’s mileage and lower than many automatic-equipped competitors. If you opt for 16-inch wheels, the manual Cobalt’s mileage drops to 25/35 mpg. That’s unfortunate, because the car’s best mileage is achieved at highway speeds. The XFE treatment doesn’t leave the car unaffected, though, as the skinny tires make the car skittish on the highway and require constant steering correction if you want to keep it pointed straight. The XFE comes with low-rolling-resistance tires on 15-inch wheels and different manual transmission gearing to reach 37 mpg. So would a tilting front seat.Ĭhevrolet added a more efficient engine for all Cobalts for 2009 that adds variable valve timing for more power and better mileage. A telescoping steering wheel, which the Civic and Corolla include as standard equipment, would have helped with overall comfort. In its fixed position, the seat base was so flat I slid forward during braking. More problematic than panel gaps or rough plastic is how little adjustability there is in the seats - so little that long drives were uncomfortable for my 6-foot, 175-pound frame. Those looking solely for a fuel-efficient, no-frills car, however, may not be put off by that. The cheap materials and jagged plastic edges inside the Cobalt radiate an aura of cheapness. Though GM has competitive interiors in some models, the Cobalt is a great example of the flaws that gave the company a bad reputation. The Cobalt is also available in a high-performance SS version, which is reviewed here. As an overall package, it leaves something to be desired. While the XFE’s gas mileage is impressive, and the Cobalt does have competitive features, its interior refinement and ride quality aren’t up to par with the competition. The Cobalt only manages to hit that mileage mark with its manual transmission, however fuel economy takes a big hit with the optional automatic that most buyers will choose. As Chevrolet’s commercials want you to recognize, the Cobalt’s 37 mpg is better than manual versions of the Honda Civic (34 mpg), Toyota Corolla (35 mpg) and Ford Focus (35 mpg). The race to do so brought Chevrolet’s otherwise-underwhelming Cobalt compact car into the spotlight with an XFE (eXtra Fuel Economy) model that bumped the Cobalt’s highway rating to a best-in-class 36 mpg.įor 2009, there are even more XFEs: Manual versions of the base (Value Leader), LS and LT trim levels, with 15-inch wheels, all get the designation, now rated at 25/37 mpg city/highway. When gas prices peaked in the summer of 2008, automakers quickly turned out models with improved gas mileage to ease consumers’ concerns. ![]()

On any team with Man-At-Arms, upgrading Bolster makes for a great stress heal right out the gate. It’s usually worth it to choose regions with a goal promising Mastery reward.Īs a general rule, upgrade a stress heal, then spread upgrades around, focusing on damage. Guaranteed Mastery points come from Hero Shrines, Creature Den, full Lair clearing, and the final cultist encounter of each region. Most fights have a chance of providing mastery, but certain fights have a higher chance. Mastery points are extremely valuable – they are the main way your hero scales in a run. Mastery points allow you to upgrade your heroes’ skills (1 Mastery per skill) Google the solution if you need to don’t beat yourself up over it. Some of Hero Shrines require you to lose the encounter (scripted loss). Make sure to read the goal of the fight in the top left corner. Most of these are somewhat intuitive, but some of them are almost inscrutable. Howling End, despite its nerf, still hits hard. Hellion: Like HWM, a slew of good abilities to unlock. Vestal: Incredible once all skills are unlocked (2+ runs worth of hero shrines), but also requires Seraph path (30+ candles) to really shine. If you unlock them, Hellion and Vestal are also extremely valuable uses of shrines. I don’t prioritize unlocks for Graverobber at all. Graverobber: Lunge unlocks on her 3rd shrine, which is a rough deal. Man-At-Arms: One shrine unlocks Bellow, good for fights that reward AOE – no need to prioritize hero shrines for MAA otherwise. Never a bad idea to use a shrine on HWM – all of his abilities are solid. Highwayman: One shrines gets Point Blank Shot, which lets him shuffle with Duelist Advance. Plague Doctor: Visiting just two Hero Shrines with Plague Doctor will get you Plague Grenade, which can hit back row – invaluable for certain fights and I highly recommend getting this early in your first run. Here’s how to think about their ability unlocks: You’ll start with Plague Doctor, Grave Robber, Highwayman and Man-At-Arms. How should I use my hero shrines on my first run(s)? Letting loathing max out is the worst of the three issues, so plan accordingly. Scouting can help but isn’t usually necessary. Plan your path to avoid maxing out loathing, losing all shields or losing all wheels. Vestal becomes very powerful once her Seraph path and all skills are unlocked. Some players enjoy Leper (high damage, very tanky), but I prefer reach on Hellion. I’ve made this so many times now and it’s always a highlight. So delish! I make this one regularly and hubby and I love it! (I use 2 packs of 14-oz tofu, not just one, because the recipe calls for 2 lbs of chicken). Like somebody else noted, below - this is a great recipe for vegans: sub out firm, pressed tofu, like the other review noted for the chicken, and otherwise, make as directed. Uses a lot of oil - I think you can cut down a bit on the oil on the green beans and also the chicken. It’s a little too heavy and sweet for me but kids love it. That being said, you need to make this recipe - it's one of my Epicurious favorites and I've been cooking from this site for over 20 years. It's written that you can basically do everything while the chicken is frying - certainly a logistical feat in 22 minutes, even with everything mise-en-place and ready to go. It takes us about 1 hour to make this start to finish. We usually make this on weekends since the frying of the chicken in batches is tedious and messy. It's hard to go back to take out since this is so much better! My only complaint is that it's advertised as 22 minutes and its not. This is one of our favorite family recipes. The roasted green beans make a great simple side though! Peanuts and bell peppers would take this in a saucy kung pao chicken direction, for example. I could see adding vegetables like cauliflower to the chicken too the sauce it so good that you just want to smother everything in it. All three diners thought it tasted like restaurant quality, and we’re so excited to make it again. Serving it with Basmati rice is a must! Like previous reviewers mentioned, it takes much longer to prep and complete than the 22 minutes it states. I should really boil the vegetables while the chicken is cooking to save time! I don't add too many veg just to make sure I have enough sauce by the time I add the chicken back to the pan to reheat. If I need to feed more people and make it more substantial, I remove the chicken and then add the sauce ingredients to the pan and some thinly sliced carrots, frozen peas and/or frozen edamame beans and simmer until the carrots are cooked. You could almost say MinimServer enables the folksonomy of your music collection. Obvious examples are classical music and compilations from any genre but more generally it benefits any information architecture that is not hierarchical. Where it really shines is when music wants to escape the industry release-oriented approach. You could see this as a bottom-up approach, rather than the top-down driven approach of a hierarchy. MinimServer, on the other hand, has been built in a more flexible fashion: using its intelligent browsing mechanism you can select genres, composers and other fields to progressively narrow down the results across the library. Broadly, most UPnP media servers approach library browsing from the traditional artist / album / track hierarchy. And, indeed, many UPnP servers are pretty similar, offering similar browsing capability. If a standard is overly prescriptive, it means the software writers have less leeway to be creative in how their software works. Nevertheless, without UPnP we'd have a much more closed choice of software to construct our home music networks. In practice it can be a bit more tricky than that, with some servers supporting different capabilities. It defines how libraries can be browsed, and how playback itself can work.īecause UPnP is a standard, it means (in theory) you can choose which UPnP source ( Media Server), controller ( Control Point), or playback device ( Renderer) you like. It's an industry standard that defines how media (that's music to us) sources and playback devices interact. ![]() Browse different: why MinimServer stands out from the UPnP crowdįor the DIY digital audio enthusiast, UPnP is often the bedrock of a home music network. ![]() |
